This 1974 Saab Sonett III is powered by a 1.7-liter V4 paired to a 4-speed manual gearbox and has been modified with the installation of a Weber carburetor, big bore exhaust, Koni shocks, and an electric cooling fan. Reported by the previous owner to have been campaigned in SCCA autocross and rallycross, the Sonnet was purchased by the seller six months ago. Described as a good runner by the seller, the car is offered at no reserve and is sold with a clean Nebraska title in the seller’s name.
Though it is said to be free of any major flaws, the finish is said to contain several scrapes and touchups to the paint that are noticeable at closer inspection. It is believed by the seller to have been involved in a front end accident earlier in its history, resulting in the repair work shown in the gallery and the installation of a front clip from an earlier Sonett. Modifications to the suspension include Koni shocks and stiffer springs, resulting in a slightly lower ride height than stock.
The interior shows signs of wear, with various nicks, scrapes, and carpets showing its age. Seats and door cards are believed by the seller to have been recently redone.
All interior instrumentation, controls, and electric accessories are functional according to the seller. The five-digit odometer read 33,810 miles and has likely rolled over according to the seller.
The 1.7LÂ Ford Taunus V4Â is paired to a 4-speed manual gearbox and is said to remain unmodified apart from the installation of a Weber DCNF 40 carburetor, big bore exhaust, and an electric cooling fan paired with a temperature sensor for cooler operating temperatures. Serviced with a driver-side brake caliper rebuild, new pads, and bleed earlier in the year, issues noted include a slight leak from the gearbox, an exhaust manifold leak, and an initial squeak when shifting that goes away once the car is warmed up.
Detailed photos of the cars underside and interior metal are included in the gallery below. The car is sold with several specialty SAAB tools, including a transmission dipstick, special spark plug wrench, spring compressor, and hub puller.
