Roewe 750 to come to Egypt in June under the MG name

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai May 23) - Following news that it would enter the Thai market with the help of domestic company Charoen Pokphand, SAIC Group has announced plans to sell own brand Roewe models in the Egyptian market next month by forming a new joint venture company with a local partner, the National Business Daily reported today. SAIC will manufacture the Roewe 750 in knockdown factories in the country, which it will then sell under the MG name.

SAIC has previously used the MG brand name to export Roewe models to foreign markets. According to Liu Tao, marketing director for the Roewe brand, the Roewe brand is targeted towards Chinese consumers, while the MG name is better known overseas.

Due to increasingly fierce competition in the domestic market, more and more Chinese enterprises are shifting their focuses to overseas. According to statistics from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, Chinese automobile exports last year exceeded 1.05 million units with Geely, Chery, JAC and other domestic own brand manufacturers posting strong growth in their export businesses.
