Shinigami no Ballad

My Personal Review:

When the bell rings… death draws closer, death by the hands of a Shinigami dressed in all white, like an Angel… Guardian of the Souls.

Even if things didn’t work out as you wanted them to, it’s still good enough to be alive, right?

Momo, is a shinigami by job yet an angel by heart. Her job is to guide the souls of those whom are passing away, and guide them to the other side. She also finds wandering spirits or those who have regrets and tries to ease their pains. To her, a pure spirit is like the beatiful white snow in winter. Even though it’s said that Shinigami harbor no feelings for humans, and aren’t supposed to cry, Momo is an exception to this rule. Not only does she cry (because she believes that the dead ones cannot cry, so she cries for them), but she also tries to comfort the ones being guided, as well as the ones close to them. Her partner, a winged cat named Daniel assists her, thus being not quite as sympathetic as she, towards humans.

Shinigami no Ballad is a beautiful masterpiece of an anime. The anime has 6 different stories of those whom are passing away, have regrets, or are lost; and their loved ones around them and their heartwarming stories. Warning, this is a psychological anime, and I can guaruntee that no matter how strong of a person you may think you are, or how emotionless you may be, that you will either feel sad or just start crying when you watch this series. It’s truly a great work of art. It can touch the heart of just about any person, with the messages intended.
