When sliding up the glass they look like a snail.
They reach lengths of about 1 - 1 & 1/4". Sometimes the shell is completely covered by their mantle and from the top, they appear more like a slug than a snail. They reproduce well in tanks lacking predatation and are so prolific you can share them with reefer friends. Get/give five of the snails at a time for starter culture.

The true numbers of Stomatella you have in your tank cannot be known by looking at your tank in the daytime. They're nocturnal critters for the most part, although can sometimes be seen throughout the day.
There are variations in their color but they are typically gray, black or mottled.
